Posts 1,461 i hate when people who are into ska punk slag off no doubt they actually think that what they listen to is real ska, and they say that no doubt were never ska at all... i know that no doubt weren't pure ska, but they were kinda 2 tone-esque, which is ska-er than ska punk    Report

In Gwen's words, if you dont go big, then the world cant see your talent and appreciate all the emotions and stuff you pour into a record...also, you cant travel the world and get to experience amazing things. I know the mainstream means you must sacrafice SOME artistic freedom to make it marketable, but i'd rather do that and still show peices of who I am, then do exactly what I want, and be a "nobody."    Report

They then go on to say how they're in to the "original stuff" e.g. Madness and The Specials, when they don't actually realise they're the second wave and original ska comes from people like Prince Buster. I'm not trying ot have a go at Madness or The Specials, because they're the best ska bands, I'm just trying to get the point across that most of these people don't know what they're talking about anyway. I think it would be a negative thing if they didn't grow into something new and different...That's what I usually tell ska purists who throw anti-ND crap at me. And not only the fact that ND never would've left the state of California....but what good is a band that does the same things over and over? Music needs to progress and evolve into something. No Doubt has always excelled at that. Anyone who slags on ND are really either just jealous that their bands didn't explode or people who love monotony.    Report
