That's like saying it's harder for a gay man to relate to being a parent.
 Thanks Maxi!

But that's how it's always been. Women more often sing from a male's perspective in songs (i.e. Liz Phair), and men are less likely to read books written by women, whereas women tend to like books and music by both. Whereas a woman may easily listen to Britney Spears AND Green Day, the same does not apply to men. It's a horrible double standard but I have a valid point.

Name me five more women who always sing from a male perspective.
I think what you are saying is very narrow-minded and you need to hang out with better people, because if the dudes you hang out with think like this...not cool.

It's not narrow-minded, I'm just saying LESS men would relate to ROS as opposed to BSC. You are so argumentative towards everything I say; yes, I do believe less men would relate to "Magic's in the makeup" than to "Open the Gate." Sue me.

But you are being narrow-minded. Magic's in the Makeup is just one song off of the whole album. And maybe men can't relate to the literal words, the message behind the song is something that's relateable.

I say let sleeping dogs lie. lol jk
I don't see how it's relevant a persons' sexuality as it pertains to their musical tastes, at all. Unless you're taking a survey or in a sociology class.
For the record I consider myself heterosexual, and I personally don't know any other straight guys that like NXD as much as I do.
And I'm talking fanatic, like going to see NXD live, meeting No Doubt, buying their merch, the Boom Box, the Orange Crate, adorning my walls with their posters, getting the NXD Rock Steady Vans........ (all things I accomplished)
As for men not being able to relate to ROS, I don't agree with that at all. I totally could relate to that album on a musical and lyrical and emotional level. Not to mention Ex-girlfriend, Bathwater, New, among other songs on that album are some of my favorite NXD songs, and songs I almost break my neck rocking out to.
When ROS and Rock Steady came out, and particularly Rock Steady gave the fans a jolt because of the new direction they were going to, I embraced it. Rock Steady is a really great album.
Maybe it's relevant, maybe it's not, but most of the music I listen to that isn't No Doubt can be lumped into the "male dominated" metal/death metal category. Not everything I listen to, but most everything else I listen to that isn't No Doubt, is metal or rock etc.
But so what right? I know what I like, and I love No Doubt. Gay or straight, No Doubt are first of all, musicians ,and music appeals to all.
That's how most people came to know them, through their music.

I relate to Magic's in the Makeup because I have to constantly pretend like I'm interested in what my girlfriend has to say. Take your drawers off and shut up, ***!

See, I don't understand why people in general twist people's words. Did I say men CAN'T relate to ROS? Not at all, I said that less men relate to ROS than to BSC, where most of the lyrics were not penned by Gwen yet, but by other men, and likewise with the self-titled. Gawd, that's so annoying when people do that.
