So my dog had a seizure today

I'm scared for him, hes only 3 and a half, and this is the second one he has had. the place that we take him too was closed today, so we are calling them first thing tomorrow. He seems fine now. but it still scares me.
Has this happened to anyone else's pets? I know i can put him on meds.... but idk what else there is to do. It happened this morning, and all my dad could do was just hold him. i was at school while this happened, but i guess he was under for 4-5 min. :( :( My poor beagle!
Thanks for the new Sig and Av Sammie!!! XD

Thanks guys, i don't know what to do either, :( We called them. they thought what started it was he was playing by my stairs with one of his toys, and he was throwing his head back and forth, (you know how dogs do that, really fast, lol) and he nailed his nose and side of his face on the steps, and it knocked him out, and he couldn't walk and he was smelling around not know what was going on. and a few days after that is when he had his first seizure. they think that might have triggered it. but we don't know for sure, i think we should bring him in and he should get checked out further. cause who knows
i guess his eyes were freaking out today. i just couldn't imagine seeing it happen, i would break down, ya know.
Thanks for the new Sig and Av Sammie!!! XD

oh my gosh that poor little thing! i hope everything's ok once you take him in. i've never had this happen so i don't know what it could be. the scariest thing with my dogs is one threw up blood one morning and it scared me senseless, but the little guy just had acid reflux, so we just had to change his diet and he had a week of pills to make his stomach feel better.
 thanks Randy! <333

i hope you can manage to stay informed on what's happening. pets mean so much, they're like family, they can make you worry so bad.
 thanks Randy! <333

Aw,Chrysta, am so,so sorry your dog had a seizure.Yeah,I think it's a good idea to take him to the vets' for a checkup to try and find out what could have caused the seizure. My cat Angel had a few seizures-we didn't end up running any tests on her because she was 17 and we didn't want her to go through alot of tests. I'm a moderator of a Yahoo group for owners of cats who have seizures, but there is a group for owners of dogs who have seizures http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/k9epilepsy/ This site also has some good info http://www.canine-epilepsy.com/Resources.html I hope your dog doesn't have another seizure, but like you said there are meds he can be put on to control the seizures.
 Thanks,Sammie,for the sig :)

Yeah i had a dog before this one, and she was there with me through out my whole life, and we had to put her down, she just was starting to suffer, its so hard to see an animal go through something that hurts them, it so depressing watching it.
But i read this on the site you gave me, "An injury to the skull, possibilly hard enough to crack the skull, would require a significant impact to cause an intracranial disturbance. If such an event did occur, then, if seizures were to occur, they will not be observed immediately. The dog would not have seizures until weeks, or even months, after the event. "
I have a good feeling this might be the case, but there is so many possibilities out there that it could be.
Thanks for the new Sig and Av Sammie!!! XD
